ON-SITE REGISTRATION PLANNED FOR QUAKECON® 2010
The Hilton Anatole Hotel Now Accepting Reservations
July 1, 2010 (Rockville, MD) - id Software and Bethesda Softworks today announced that all attendee registration for QuakeCon 2010 will be handled on-site at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, located in Dallas, Texas, through a new and improved registration process. Designed to reduce the time BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) attendees spend waiting to register equipment, and generally better serve all those in attendance, this new and entirely on-site process will streamline every guest’s registration experience while still accommodating anyone that wants to take part in the BYOC.
Doors to QuakeCon will open on Thursday, August 12th at 9:00am and will remain open until noon on Sunday, August 15th. The event is free to all attendees thanks to the support of id Software and Bethesda Softworks, as well as the QuakeCon volunteer staff and the 2010 event sponsors and exhibitors.
QuakeCon 2009 was a record-breaking gathering for gamers with over 7,000 guests. With attendance expected to increase sharply this year, QuakeCon will once again host North America's largest BYOC LAN party, with thousands of gamers hooking their systems up to play on a world-class network. Of course, it wouldn't be QuakeCon without the drama and intensity of the big-money pro tournaments, featuring id Software's free-to-play, web-based multiplayer game QUAKE LIVE. New to this year’s event is a 250-seat tournament arena that will allow spectators to get up close and personal with the competitors. Attendees can watch top matches live throughout every day of the competitions on large screens with simultaneous play-by-play commentary from this year’s shoutcasters.
QuakeCon also offers non-stop fun and entertainment for those who don't bring their own computers. The world's leading technology companies will be on hand to demonstrate their latest hardware and software in the 45,000 square foot exhibit hall, and every day of QuakeCon is packed with contests, entertainment, announcements, panel discussions, and parties. Attendees will also have their first chance to get their hands on upcoming Bethesda Softworks titles like Brink, Fallout: New Vegas, and Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.
The Hilton Anatole is now taking room reservations for QuakeCon 2010 through their custom QuakeCon Reservation Page - http://bit.ly/cr3NkS - or through their toll-free reservations number, 1-800-HILTONS. To receive the specially negotiated room rate of $154.00 (single, double, triple or quad occupancy) and the special daily self-park rate of $8 (regularly $17 per day), you must request the group rate for "QuakeCon 2010" or book through the link above when making your reservation. LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nintendo is raising the bar – again.

EA’S FIFA SOCCER 11 SET TO REDEFINE PLAYER AUTHENTICITY
All-New Personality+ Enables Players to Behave and Perform as True Individuals
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – June 9, 2010 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today revealed that its top-selling* franchise from EA SPORTS™ will redefine player authenticity when FIFA Soccer 11 launches this Fall on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system. FIFA Soccer 11 reinvents player authenticity – on and off the ball – for every player and at every position on the pitch with Personality+, an all-new feature that sees individual abilities reflected in game, enabling clear differentiation for every player.
“Personality+ is the evolution of individual distinctiveness that sees a player’s abilities on the pitch mirrored authentically in our game, creating individual personalities in FIFA Soccer 11,” said Executive Producer Kaz Makita. “We have reached a level of sophistication within our game engine where players in our game will behave and perform as true individuals.”
Personality+ distinguishes individual players from one another by utilizing a database that evaluates and grades each player’s skill-set over 36 attributes and 57 traits. The EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer franchise utilizes a network of 1,700 scouts, editors and reviewers positioned around the world to evaluate each player, creating one of the world’s most comprehensive databases to drive its market-leading soccer engine. Personality+ will be integrated everywhere in-game. Elite players are now empowered to showcase their world class skills. Real Madrid’s Kaka will deliver crisp, creative passes, Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta will utilize tighter turns and close control to dribble through defenses, Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney will hold off defenders and strike shots from distance with pace, and top-flight defenders like Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus will anticipate, predict and react to offensive players to win back possession. New body types and player models will further distinguish each player on the pitch. In addition, goalkeepers have also been injected with Personality+. The real-life personality of the keeper, whether acrobatic or traditional, will dictate his style in game. Dive attributes will determine the keepers with the ability to reach for further shots while reflex attributes determine reaction times, so a keeper like Petr Cech of Chelsea FC will be able to showcase world-class skills.
FIFA Soccer 11 introduces new Pro Passing where pass accuracy is determined by a gamer’s ability on the control pad, and player skill, situation and urgency on the pitch, yielding a deeply rewarding passing system. Poor decisions or over/under striking the ball will mean error-prone outcomes. New types of passes such as swerve passes will enable players to make a safer and more effective play.
Building on FIFA Soccer 10 gameplay that won 50 sports game of the year awards, FIFA Soccer 11 continues to listen to its growing legion of EA SPORTS FIFA fans around the world to refine gameplay in ways that matter most to fans. Visit http://www.facebook.com/easportsfifa to join the EA SPORTS FIFA group to express feedback directly to game developers and receive exclusive content. EA CHANGES THE GAME, ANNOUNCES NBA ELITE 11
EA SPORTS Set to Re-invent the Basketball Simulation Videogame Experience This Fall
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – June 2, 2010 – Electronic Arts Inc. (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that NBA ELITE will be the new moniker of the long running EA SPORTS™ NBA videogame franchise. NBA ELITE 11 will revolutionize the way basketball simulation games are played, with an all-new technology base, a new control scheme and a real-time physics system. Currently in development for the PLAYSTATION®3 and the XBOX™ 360, NBA ELITE 11 will be available in retail stores this October.
“We plan to profoundly evolve the interactive basketball experience in a way that the category has not seen for a decade,” says Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “In NBA ELITE 11, we’ll introduce a gameplay experience that gives fans the control on the court that they have been begging for in a basketball game for years.”
Using the design principles from some of EA SPORTS top rated franchises, NBA ELITE 11 introduces several significant gameplay changes that center around user control. The new ‘Hands-On Control’ scheme allows for one-to-one responsiveness of a player’s movement and actions on the court, as opposed to traditional predetermined animations that require users to wait while a scenario played out before making the next move. Hands-on Control applies to everything within a player’s offensive and defensive arsenal, including: dribble moves, dunks, drives to the basket, fadeaways, mid-air adjustments, blocks, steals and more.
The new real-time physics system in NBA ELITE 11 allows each player on the court to move independently of one another, removing the two-man interactions that have long taken the user control out of basketball simulation videogames. In addition, a new skill-based shooting system requires accurate user input, based on a player’s position on the court, versus the randomly generated dice rolls that have driven shooting in basketball videogames in the past.
“NBA ELITE 11 will give gamers the same skill set that a pro basketball player has at his disposal,” said David Littman, Creative Director, NBA ELITE 11. “This is the first basketball simulation videogame where you are controlling every movement, dribble move, shot, dunk, lay-up, steal and block in real time with one-to-one control. You’re no longer going to push a button and watch the computer generate a long animation sequence. It is like being on a basketball court with an amazing set of skills. This is going to change what people have come to expect from a basketball simulation videogame.”
“From the first day of development on this product, it was clear that we intended to pioneer a groundbreaking change in the basketball videogame segment,” said Jordan Edelstein, VP Marketing, EA SPORTS. “It’s a whole new game that warranted a brand new name to fully capture the transformation we intend to deliver in NBA ELITE.”
NBA ELITE 11 will be available for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system with an MSRP of $59.99. It is developed by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI.
EA SPORTS™ is one of the leading sports entertainment brands in the world, with top-selling videogame franchises, award-winning interactive technology, global videogame competitions and breakthrough digital experiences. EA SPORTS delivers personal access to the emotion of sports through industry-leading sports simulation videogames, including Madden NFL football, FIFA Soccer, NHL® hockey, NBA LIVE basketball, NCAA® Football and NCAA Basketball, Fight Night boxing, EA SPORTS MMA and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® golf, and EA SPORTS Active.

THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE’S SEMINAL LP AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE BLAZES ONTO ROCK BAND
PLUS NEW “VALLEYS OF NEPTUNE” SINGLE FROM NEW HENDRIX ALBUM JIMI HENDRIX NOW EXCLUSIVE TO ROCK BAND PLATFORM
Cambridge, Mass. – March 26, 2010 – Harmonix and MTV Games today announced The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s classic album, Axis: Bold As Love, along with the new Jimi Hendrix single, “Valleys of Neptune” from the new album will be added next week to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™. Additionally, Jimi Hendrix's music is now exclusive to Rock Band with more songs coming to its industry-leading platform in the future.
Hendrix’s music continues to resonate with music fans everywhere as proven by the long-awaited album of previously unavailable Jimi Hendrix studio recordings, Valleys of Neptune, which debuted last week on the Billboard 200 best-selling albums chart at #4. Moreover, four additional Hendrix catalog titles -- Are You Experienced (#44), Electric Ladyland (#60), First Rays of the New Rising Sun (#63), and Axis: Bold As Love (#67) -- have returned to the Billboard 200 four decades after their original release dates, a testimony to the enduring vitality and importance of the trailblazing artist-guitarist-performer.
According to the April 2010 Stereophile review of Valleys of Neptune, “Today, [Hendrix’s] music appeals as much to musically wise 17-year-olds as to still-spirited baby boomers.”
With more than 400 artists and 1,100 songs currently available through the Rock Band platform, and 65 million songs sold through its download store alone, Rock Band is the undisputed sales and content leader in the interactive music space, providing the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums.
Rock Band DLC Additions for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 System and Wii
The entirety of Axis: Bold As Love will be added next week to the Rock Band Music Store. Axis, The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s iconic second studio album, was released in 1967, and includes the “If 6 Was 9,” “Castles Made of Sand," "Little Wing" and “Bold As Love.” The songs will be available both as singles and as an album pack. Omitted is the spoken word/sound sculpture opening track “EXP” as it is not suitable for gameplay.
Also available next week is “Valleys of Neptune,” the single from the new album of the same name, which was released March 9 on Legacy Recordings and features never before commercially released recordings. Legacy will also release this year deluxe CD/DVD editions of several of Hendrix’s most iconic albums, including Axis: Bold As Love
These 13 tracks join Hendrix’s “Fire,” which is already available on-disc for LEGO® Rock Band.
“Much like Jimi’s music, we feel that Rock Band represents an amazing, innovative medium for music discovery and interactionthat can have a profound affect on those who experience it," said Janie Hendrix, CEO of Experience Hendrix LLC. “We are extremely pleased to be able to have Jimi Hendrix’s genius musical legacy continue to live on and touch people the world over through Rock Band."
“Harmonix and MTV are honored to have the opportunity to bring Jimi Hendrix’s epic music to the Rock Band platform,” said Paul DeGooyer, SVP, Electronic Games and Music, MTV. “We're delighted to be working with Experience Hendrix and Legacy to help ensure that a new generation of fans have the chance to discover these incredible songs and albums for themselves, in the most engaging and impactful way possible."
Seattle-born rock icon Jimi Hendrix is recognized by many as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th Century. Hendrix is a member of the U.S. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was named by Rolling Stone as the No. 1 guitarist of all time, and was the first inductee to the Native American Hall of Fame.

XpanD’s New X103 – The Universal Active 3D Glasses Revolution
The XpanD X103 glasses are designed to work seamlessly within XpanD cinema and with almost all the new 3D-ready TVs of all brands, allowing XpanD X103 to use their personal glasses with their friends 3DTVs, 3D computer monitors and XpanD cinema.
The new XpanD X103 active 3D glasses are available in 12 different colors, allowing users unprecedented freedom of expression.
LAS VEGAS, Nevada – At ShoWest 2010, XpanD is exhibiting the world’s first universally compatible active 3D glasses for 3D-ready televisions. The XpanD X103 glasses are compatible with virtually any monitor capable of playing 3D-ready content, making 3D an affordable social experience.
“While major television manufacturers are beginning to roll out their first 3D-ready television models, a key to widespread adoption lies in the ability for consumers to use their 3D glasses with any display that is capable of
showing 3D content,” says Maria Costeira, CEO of XpanD. “The XpanD X103 glasses deliver unparalleled freedom by offering the universal 3D viewing technology in any environment, on any device!”
As with all XpanD models, the X103 active 3D glasses utilize a fast-switching, liquid crystal cell, know as “pi-cell”--the fastest 3D glasses in the world. Moreover, with the understanding that the X103’s universal compatibility will allow users to bring their glasses with them wherever they go, XpanD is developing the glasses in 12 different colors, providing freedom of expression on par with cell phones, portable media players and laptop computers.
“The main problem with display-linked active glasses lies within the incapability to use these glasses with a 3D TV that is manufactured by another brand. While we support TV manufacturers by manufacturing glasses for them, we are also requested by the same manufacturers to sell universal active glasses that will work with all the modern 3D TVs,” adds Ami Dror, XpanD Chief Strategy Officer. ”TV retailers cannot maintain 15 different models of glasses to support 15 different TV brands, rental AV companies cannot do it, and even 3D broadcasters ask for a universal pair of glasses that they can provide their 3D channel subscribers.”
3DTV and XpanD universal 3D glasses are also revolutionizing the 3D cinema business model. Owners of XpanD universal glasses are coming to the cinema with their personalized glasses. As a result, the cinema owners and the studios do not need to pay for 3D glasses anymore, making 3D cinema distribution and exhibition less expensive. The cinemas are using their unique position and becoming a point of sale for universal 3D glasses, and can profit from these sales.

In Batman: Arkham Asylum, BATMAN finds himself trapped inside the confines of Gotham’s psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane, ARKHAM ASYLUM. The Joker has set a trap for the DARK KNIGHT and has conspired with the deranged inmates to eliminate Batman once and for all. Adding to the authenticity of the game are veteran animated Batman voice talents Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy, who reprise their roles as The Joker and Batman respectively.
Batman: Arkham Asylum features an original story by Paul Dini, Batman writer and five-time Emmy Award winner whose credits include Lost and Batman: The Animated Series. Gamers will move in the shadows, instil fear amongst their enemies and confront The Joker and Gotham City's most notorious villains, including HARLEY QUINN, BANE, KILLER CROC, POISON IVY and SCARECROW, who have taken over the asylum.
Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition will be available across North America from May 11th, 2010, and throughout Europe and Australasia from March 26th, 2010, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Games For Windows LIVE. 2K Games Partners with Playboy magazine to bring
Sophistication and Classic Imagery to Mafia® II
Vintage covers and Centerfolds from the archives of the world’s best-selling men’s monthly magazine to be found throughout the world of Empire Bay
New York, NY – March 8, 2010 – 2K Games announced today that it has signed a license agreement with Playboy magazine for a unique in-game integration to use more than 50 of their vintage covers and Centerfolds in Mafia® II, this year’s highly anticipated epic mobster game for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC. Set in the fully realized and immersive 1940s and 1950s American urban cityscape of Empire Bay, Mafia II will enable players to collect virtual copies of the iconic magazine, which has served as the definitive guide to lifestyle and culture for men since December 1953.
“While most mob-inspired games’ emphasis is solely on action, Mafia II features a deep and compelling narrative that is embellished with a sophisticated, era-evoking atmosphere,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “In partnering with Playboy, we are able to add a unique element of authenticity to the game by using vintage images from the magazine that illustrate the power of Playboy’s influence on the attitudes and culture of that generation.”
Mafia II is a beautifully crafted look into the dark and unforgiving world of the Mafia where clothing, cars, music and advertising are meticulously created to replicate an American city in the ‘40s and ‘50s. Players will easily become engaged in the game’s cinematic, Hollywood-style experience with strong, believable characters in a living, breathing city that transports them to a time when rock-n-roll first strummed its guitar and chrome-plated hot rods roared down boulevards.
“For more than 55 years, Playboy has been a part of America’s pop culture landscape, engaging its readers with insightful features, interviews and fashion spreads, as well as pictorials of some of the world’s most beautiful women,” said Playboy magazine’s Editorial Director Jimmy Jellinek. “Mafia II is set when Playboy first came into vogue and features characters whose style and attitudes mirror content from our early issues. We’re excited to bring an element of authenticity to the game that is unmatched in the men’s publishing category.”
Mafia II is currently in development by 2K Czech, the same creative team behind the award-winning, genre-defining Mafia®, which captivated millions of gamers around the world. By fusing high-octane gunplay with white-knuckle driving and an engaging narrative, Mafia II looks to be the industry’s most compelling Mafia title to date.
